Sewer Network Multi-objective Optimization using Genetic Algorithms

This paper focuses on the multi-objective optimization of a sewer network that serves medium-sized Romanian city, with population 250,000 residents. The is modeled using BSMSewer software package. obtained results are based numerical simulations algorithm considering two performance criteria: volume overflow and quality overflowed wastewater. For optimization, approaches use controlled elitist genetic were employed: two-steps optimization. Results analysis involved comparing them scenario where each criterion was separately minimized. Additionally, comparison made to situation operated without control system, meaning valves fully open pumps running at maximum capacity.
